The Isle of Arran (Scots Gaelic: Eilean Arainn) also known as “Scotland in Minature” is one of Scotland’s most Southern Western Islands located in The Firth of Clyde between Ayrshire and separated from the Hebridean islands by The Kintyre Peninsula.
Arran’s landscape is extremely varied featuring rugged mountain peaks, Glens & ridges around Goatfell in the North of the island to sea cliffs & pebble beaches around the northern coastline.

The Southern part of Arran has beautiful fields, farmland, natural woodlands, meadows and spotless pebble & sandy beaches in the South.
The island is particularly popular with geologists, wildlife enthusiasts, hill walkers & climbers due to it being divided into distinctive highland and lowland areas by the Highland Boundary Fault.

This produces some incredible landscapes, ecology and geological features across the whole island which i love to try and capture in my paintings. There are also many standing stones including the Machrie Moor Standing Stones which i have several paintings of.
I can also be in Brodick in 2 hours from my studio in Glasgow, and on the top of Goatfell in a couple more hours 🙂

My Isle of Arran Paintings & Prints
A dramatic mix of mediums are blended, layered and splattered over the canvas to produce a very atmospheric painting depicting the ever changing wild weather that constantly sweeps across Arran from The Atlantic.
I love to combine and layer the different types of paint and application of medium, creating a unique style of atmospheric painting full of vibrant colour and drama.
I use a variety of mediums in a very non traditional style including spray paint, oil paint, acrylic and inks.
The original paintings continue around the deep edges of the canvas giving a very contemporary style although it can be framed if you wish.
A range of affordable prints are available to buy through the Arran Gallery page here as well as cards, mounted, framed or block / PVC mounted prints. Alternative sizes are available on request, for print examples check this page.
