  • A Giclee print is a high resolution print of the original painting.
  • Prints are produced with an HD printer using light fast pigment inks as opposed to dye based ink.
  • The High definition printer used can produce a far wider spectrum of colour and vibrancy.
  • Printing is on archival Fine Art, textured papers which are acid free & light fast, so no fading for over 90 years.
  • A border is left around the image to allow for framing.
  • Titled & signed on the border by Andy and arrives in a protective postal tube or flat in cardboard.
  • Please handle Giclee prints very carefully as the ink is almost powdery on the surface and is easily marked.
  • A framer will know how to put your print in a suitable frame.
  • Prints are fixed to white acid free mount/matte board.
This provides the border around the image for framing.
  • Titled & signed on the mount by Andy.
  • Comes with a hard backing board & cellophane protective sleeve.
  • There are only a few sizes available as postage costs and risk of damage with larger sizes are too high.
  • Unframed prints can be purchased in larger sizes and your local framer can mount for you when framing.
  • Prints are presented in white mounts & surrounded in a simple 2.5cm thick matt black frame.
  • Sizes upwards of Large are normally presented in a 3.5cm thick frame.
  • All Andy’s work suits black as it really ‘pops’ the colours out.
  • Frames are all ready to hang easily, with a grip fixing on the reverse.
  • All are titled & signed on the mount by Andy.
  • Alternative frame profiles, colours & sizes/finishes be arranged, just get in touch.
  • Professionally printed direct to photographic paper & laminated to 8mm thick black edged board.
  • Specialist lamination heat bonds the print to board & is UV light proof / archival protecting the print for at least 100 years.
  • Block mounting is an unusual and very contemporary style of presentation, particularly suiting Andy’s work.
  • Blocks have a sunken keyhole hanger on the reverse making them easy and ready to hang.
  • They will hang flush with your wall or can be presented free standing on a shelf for example.
  • Your chosen image is professionally printed direct to gallery standard deep edged canvas using very high quality lightand fade proof inks.
  • The canvas is then wrapped & tensioned over a 1.8mm deep gallery standard frame.
  • Canvas frames are made with kiln dried Pine wood stretcher bars.
  • Please note that cheaper canvas prints are often prone to warping and sagging due to non kiln dried materials being used.
  • The canvas arrives with a grip fixing on the reverse for easy hanging over a nail or screw.
  • This presents the picture neat & flush to your wall.

  • Your canvas is then beautifully finished in a contemporary floating/tray frame, increasingly popular with artists & buyers alike.
  • Floating frames draw attention to the canvas with a narrow gap around canvas and frame moulding.
  • The frame adds roughly 3cm around the canvas.
  • A grip fixing on the reverse is included for easy hanging.
  • This presents the picture neat & flush to your wall.

The original painting guide

How original paintings made, what materials are used, styles available, presentation, hanging and cost

How are original paintings created?

  • Original paintings are created in the studio and are based on memory and from Andy’s sketches and photography.
  • Very high quality Loxley Gold canvas or occasionally panels are used depending on the work.
  • Paintings normally continue around the deep edge of the canvas/board giving a very contemporary effect which does not require framing, although this can be arranged.
  • Most paintings and other artwork is mixed media meaning a variety of paints, inks etc are used. All mediums are the highest quality and protected from damage by several layers of professional artists varnish.
  • Andy can get any framing requirements  done with many friends in the framing business.
  • As many images as possible are posted on the website showing details and different angles of the originals.
  • If you would like to see any more shots of a painting just get in touch and this can be done easily for you.
  • Studio visits are always welcome and Andy has daylight setting LED lighting to show paintings and prints in the most natural environment as possible.

What paint and other materials are used?

  • All oil paint and varnishes etc are the highest quality, producing a painting that will last for lifetimes.
  • Andy will use any combination of materials and styles to create unique and exciting work.
  • Some examples are Michael Harding oil paints, Montana and Kobra spray paint, Dr PH Martin’s inks, Windsor Newton varnishes, Omega brushes, Liquitex acrylic, Liquitex mediums and other special ingredients.

What styles of paintings are available?

  • Many styles have evolved with Andy’s paintings over the years from graphic and street art to abstract, impressionistic and expressive.
  • New work is always on the easel and always varies from day to day, depending on mood.
  • Andy is constantly experimenting with alternative techniques and materials.
  • All of Andy’s paintings on this website can be viewed here and also other work here.
  • If you are looking for the latest paintings check out Instagram for the most recent updates.
  • There is always the option of having your own painting by commissioning the artist, information here.

How much do original paintings cost?

  • Andy strongly believes art should be accessible and affordable to everyone.
  • As paintings are mostly sold direct from the studio or website instead of a bricks and mortar gallery, prices are extremely reasonable.
  • Original paintings are generally costed based on size but it is best to check each one on its page for exact price.
  • Many variables such as time involved, expense of materials, difficulty of producing also contribute to price.
